I’m Kristin — a songwriter and storyteller who believes some of the best songs start long before anyone picks up a guitar.

They start with real life.

A conversation you can’t forget. A person you miss. Falling in love. Losing it. Starting over. Or one ordinary moment that somehow turns into a line you can’t get out of your head.

For me, songwriting is about finding the story hiding inside those moments and turning it into something someone else can hear and say, “I’ve felt that too.”

Before It Was A Song is a place to share more than the finished music. It’s about where the songs came from, how they were written, the people who helped bring them to life, and everything that happened before they became songs.

Because every song has a story.
And sometimes the story is the best part.
